The Ankle and Foot
The ankle joint is the joint that connects the bones of the foot to the lower leg. It's made up of three bones: the tibia (shin bone), the fibula (the smaller bone next to the tibia), and the talus (a bone in the foot). The foot is made up of the calcaneus (heal), tarsal bones (the midfoot), and metatarsals (plantar foot) and phalanges (the toes).
The ankle joint and foot is supported by ligaments and tendons, which help keep the joint stable and allow for smooth movement.
